Well 2009 is coming to and end! It has been a great year of spiritual and numeric growth for CX3. This year we are going to approach our study and teaching a little differently. Each month will have a specific Series and direction. I am exited to see what God has in store for us this year. Starting this Sunday we will begin what I call our "Vision Month".
Sunday I will be bringing a lesson entitles "Fresh Eyes". If you would like to read ahead Read the following verses: Prov. 29:18; Phil. 3:13; John 4; Matthew 9:37-38; Luke 10:2; Matthew 6:19-20.
Questions to ask after reading:
1. what does life look like for me?
2. What makes me tick?
3. What vision do I have?
4. Who is the last person I witnessed to?
5. What do I need to leave behind?
I hope you will be here as we dive into "Vision Month". The following 3 lessons will answer the question: "What exactly does Cx3 Mean?", followed by lesson from Tim Odonald to close out the month. I am praying for you and cannot wait to see you Sunday!!!

Lesson: Dealing with those that are Different
There are 3 different positions I can take towards questionable items and those that are different: Liscense, Legalism, or Love. What is the definition of each one of these positions?
I believe there are so many poeple within the church who struggle with people who are different than they are. Many times this causes divsion, and ultimatley bitterness, and even spawns hate. What is God's plan when it comes to these issues?
Other passages for reading: Hebrews 12:1; 1 Corinthians 6:12; 1 John 2:6; 1 Timothy 4:12; Colossians 4:5; 1 Corinthians 10:23; 1 Corinthians 10:21
How do you respond to people who have different preferences than you do?
Do you get angry?
Do you feel more or less spiritual in light of their decision?
I am praying for a revival of Christians, who have a Godly DISPOSITION, who keep the main the thing the main thing!

Lesson: Marks of a Spiritual Father
Text: 1 Corinthians 4:14-21
This Sunday is Mothers day and it also right in the middle of our Missions Emphasis week. We are going to continue to the next passage and the next verses. Paul in this epistle has used many different roles to describe the spiritual leader:
3:5 – a servant
3:6 – a farmer
3:10 – builder
4:1 – slave, and a steward
Now he changes gears a little and refers as himself as "father" and the Corinthians as "sons" or "children".
What is the difference between "brethren" and "sons"? Why would he change the references towards them in this passage?
He gives some characteristics of a "spiritual father". Can you identify them?
As a spiritual leader or father there is a great responsibility that is required. Why?
What can we do as leaders and fathers to make sure we are living up to what God has called us to?
What should the balance between law and grace be? Love and Discipline?
Is there a time where I am responsible to warn other Christians?
If there is When? Why? How?

Text: 1 Corinthians 4:6-13
Lesson: Conceit and Humility – Their Pride Revealed
The church at Corinth's carnality has been exposed over the past few passages. Last week we talked through what being a minister is all about. Being a servant and stewardship. In this verses 6-13 Paul addresses and reveals the root of ALL of their issues---PRIDE.
Pride many times is the root of most of the problems in our lives. Especially problems or divisions within the Church. We are going to look at the reasons for their Pride.
Psalms 10:4 4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Psalm 73:6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Prov. 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
Prov 29:23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Obidaiah said The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee
What are some Biblical examples of Humility?
What was the source of the Corinthian Churches Pride?
What did Paul have to say about it?
How do we overcome pride in our lives?
We could spend months or even years talking through this subject. I pray you will dig deep and see what pride and humility look like for you. Where do you struggle with it? Why do you struggle with it? How can you be more humble?
I am praying for you all! This subject is a powerful and convicting one!!! See you Sunday...

Here in Ch 4 Paul continues addressing the issues that were causing the contention, he is continuing the talk on the carnality that is causing the division. Sunday we will look at what being a true minister is all about.

So many people I meet have this idea that God's work is only for a certain type of person. This week we will discuss, who that person is, what kind of education is required ect....I think you will be surprised and and relieved about the verdict!
I trust you are all having an excellent week! I am praying for you and cannot wait to see you on Sunday!!!

Lesson: The Power of the Cross
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
Last we discussed how the people attracted to different styles of teaching and to different personalities and because of this it was causing division within the church. As a result of the division it was making the CROSS, of none effect.
Paul picks up here in this letter and reminds, defends, presents the LIFE CHANGING POWER of the cross. I wonder if running through his mind was the walk he was taking that day on the road to Damascus when the CROSS wrecked his life.
What has the Power of the Cross done in your life?
Has it made a difference?
How did it change you today?
Are you pointing people towards it by the way you are living?
Is the Cross real to you?

Why do people who know the truth still fail in so many areas?
What does it mean to be "IN CHRIST"?
What is grace?

Is God faithful?
Prove it...

Start today
wellllll...2009 is upon us. The first day of a new year. I want to encourage all of you to start fresh today. Maybe last year you had committed to reading the Word and praying on the daily basis and did not make it. Well start today. Take it one day at a time. I am not a big fan of new years resolutions but I am a big fan of having goals and making and keeping commitments. So many "followers of Christ" that I know, are really good at the Sunday stuff...the exterior...the religious aspects of Christianity like going to church, pretending like your praying before you eat ect...I want to encourage each one of you to today to dive head first into a deep relationship with the Lord. The best way to do this is to walk with him. Talk to him. Meditate on His word. Have you spent time with him today? do you have the joy of your salvation right now at this moment? I hope you will not superficially live this life. But you will humbly realize that we are nothing without Him, and can do nothing without Him.
If nothing else this year remember: It's not about me. It's all about HIM. Commit this year not to pleasing some person or some Pastor but to pleasing God. I do this not by my separation from something (rules and regulations) but by my separating to something (the Lord Jesus Christ).
May this year our lives be full of Christ's peace, love, and forgiveness. May we enter each day with the fruit of the spirit in our lives: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
